Isaac Mwangi

Athletics Kenya (AK)
Isaac is the Chief Executive Officer of Athletics Kenya (AK) and Director of the Kenya Rugby Union in charge of the Development and Technical Committee.
He is a former Head of Sports at Strathmore University in Nairobi, which ranks among the best performing universities in sports in Africa. His duties at Strathmore University included the formulation and implementation of sports and social activities policy, strategic planning, sourcing for sponsorships and mutually beneficial partnerships for university sports and social programs, and liaising with national, regional, and international bodies for sports affiliations.
In 2008, Isaac was inducted into the East Africa Universities Sports Federation and also became the General Secretary and CEO for the Kenya Universities Sports Association which he helped launch and lead to its second appearance at the All African Games and World University Games. He also served as the overall team manager for the Kenya National Universities team to the 5th All African Universities Games in Kampala, Uganda.
In addition, Isaac has served as a part time lecturer at Strathmore University Business School. He has published his work in high tier sports journals and presented his scholarly work at several international conferences including the International Conference of the African Sport Management Association in Kampala, Uganda, the International Federation of University Sports Conference in Shenzhen, China, and the Second World Congress in Sports Management, in Sparta, Greece. He is active in a variety of sports organizations including Africa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance, African Sport Management Association, and the International Federation of University Sports in which he serves as a member of the Committee for the Development of University Sports.
Isaac is the founding director of the program "Towards Accountable Governance and Management of Sports in Kenya" a collaborative project sponsored by Sports International, Center for Multi Party for Democracy Kenya, Strathmore University and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kenya. The goal of the program is to train Kenya sports federations on the practice of good governance.
Isaac holds a Bachelor of Education in Physical and Health Education and a Master of Science in Exercise Recreation and Sports Science from Kenyatta University.
