Dr. Mombi Thairu
President & CEO

Mombi is the founder of the African Sports Business Association (ASBA) and President of the International Multicultural Society for Sport & Entertainment (IMSSE), a global organization whose mission is to provide mentorship, networking and a resource center for sports entrepreneurs and college students pursuing degree programs in sport management. 

 

Dr. Mombi, as she is warmly known by clients and colleagues, has many accomplishments which include; former Southern California representative for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) – Black Soccer Coaches Committee (BSCC), member and former Los Angeles Networking Captain for Football Partnership, a leading B2B networking group for football executives for which she was the first woman to be appointed by the organization.

 

She organized and participated in the Fox Soccer Channel’s, Fox Football Fone-In, episode “The contribution of Black People to the World of Soccer, a Celebration of Soccer and World Cup South Africa 2010” that aired during the Black History Month in February 2010.

 

Dr. Mombi has served as a panelist at various international sports conferences including the World Association for Sport Management (WASM), where she also served on the Executive Board, the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) Annual Convention 2010, and the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport (ISCPES) Conference 2010.

 

In October 2011, she moderated the sports session at the 2nd Annual Pan – African Global Trade and Investment Conference hosted by UCLA Anderson School of Management, UCLA School of Global Studies, Africa and California State University, Dominguez Hills. In September, 2011, she served as a Commissioner for the 1st African Soccer Tournament that took place in Los Angeles, California.

 

Dr. Mombi’s involvement in the sports arena and her community has resulted in her being appointed to serve on the boards of  several organizations. She was awarded the "Certificate of Recognition” in 2009 by the Mayor and City Council of the  City of Beverly Hills for her continued support of non-profit organizations in the sports and entertainment industries.

 

Dr. Mombi did her Undergraduate education at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Post Graduate education at Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS).
